Green Tops White in Hockey Exhibition

EAST LANSING - The Michigan State hockey team held its annual Green-White exhibition scrimmage on Wednesday evening at Munn Ice Arena with the Green team prevailing, 3-2, in the modified, two-period format.
Brennan Sanford scored twice for the Green in the opening period, the first of which came via a breakaway.
The second period featured alternating odd-man situations for both teams. Tommy Apap got White on the board to make it 2-1. Later on, Mitchell Lewandowski of the Green team and Sam Saliba of the White team traded power-play goals.
The scrimmage ended with a shootout, won by the White team on a goal by Logan Lambdin.
Following the scrimmage, the Spartans held a meet and greet on the ice.
The Spartans will host the University of Toronto in an exhibition game on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Munn Ice Arena. The regular season will begin Oct. 13 at Bowling Green and the teams will then meet the following night at Munn.
