EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State field hockey redshirt senior back Simone Vagnoni has been named to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-West Region Second Team, announced Monday.
This marks the second-straight honor for Vagnoni.
"I am very pleased that Simone has been recognized as one of the top players in the region," head coach Helen Knull said. "It is a well-deserved honor for Simone as she was dominant in conference and non-conference games this season for the Spartans."
The Collegeville, Pennsylvania native started all 19 games for the Green and White, recording six goals (tied for second-best on the team), while dishing out two assists totaling 14 points.
Vagnoni served as captain for the Spartans this season and was the primary ball-handler on the back line.
On her career, Vagnoni played in 73 games for MSU, tallying nine goals and six assists. Vagnoni played a crucial role on the penalty corner defense throughout her time as a Spartan.
Vagnoni served as an alternate in the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Game on Nov. 17 in Louisville and earned All-Big Ten First-Team honors for the second-straight season in 2017. She was also selected as a Big Ten Player to Watch for the 2017 season and was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team in 2014.
