No. 11 Michigan State Hosts ULM on Wednesday

Michigan State's men's basketball team plays the second of a three-game homestand on Wednesday, Nov .14, hosting the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) at the Breslin Center. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
The game will air live on BTNPlus, with Evan Stockton calling the play-by-play, Eric Bach serving as the color analyst and Alexis Downie on the sideline. The Spartan Sports Network radio call can be heard on one of 38 affiliates and on the web at SpartanSportsNetwork.com, with Will Tieman handling the play-by-play and Matt Steigenga serving as the color analyst. The game can also be heard on Sirius 134 and XM 196.Â
The Spartans, ranked No. 11 in the latest Associated Press poll, improved to 1-1 this season with a 106-82 win over Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU).
In the win over FGCU, junior guard Joshua Langford (Huntsville, Ala./Madison Academy) and junior forward Nick Ward (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) each recorded double-doubles as the Spartans scored 59 points in the first half en route to the win. Langford had his first career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Ward tied his career-high with 25 points, grabbed 10 boards and handed out a career-best four assists.
Through two games, Langford leads the team in scoring, averaging 18.0 points per game, while adding 7.0 rebounds. He is shooting 46.2 percent from the floor.
Langford is one of five players scoring in double figures for MSU. Ward is second on the team with 17.0 points and leads the team with 7.5 rebounds, while junior guard Cassius Winston (Detroit, Mich./University of Detroit Jesuit) is third on the team in scoring with 13.5 points and leads the team with 9.5 assists per game, senior guard Matt McQuaid (Duncanville, Texas/Duncanville) is averaging 12.0 points and 4.0 assists and redshirt senior Kenny Goins (Troy, Mich./Warren Mott) is averaging 11.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.
Sunday's win over FGCU marked the 49th time MSU has scored 100 points in a game. The Spartans improved to 48-1 all-time when scoring 100 points, with the lone loss coming in a triple-overtime 109-106 loss to Gonzaga at the 2005 Maui Invitational.
This will be the third all-time meeting between Michigan State and ULM. The Spartans lead the head-to-head series, 2-0. The teams first met in 1998 (an 89-58 MSU win) and the last meeting was in 2007 (83-65 MSU).
ULM enters Wednesday night's game with a 2-1 overall record following a 65-55 loss at Texas on Monday night. The Warhawks opened the season with wins over Jackson State (75-66) and Millsaps (94-52). The game is the second of five-straight road games for ULM, as the team plays at Tennessee Tech on Nov. 23, at Northwestern State on Nov. 27 and at Ole Miss on Dec. 1. Senior guard Daishon Smith, a transfer from Wichita State who is the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year, leads the team in scoring with 17.0 points per game, while adding 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals. Senior forward Travis Munnings, a native of the Bahamas who went to Sunrise Christian Academy (the same school as former MSU standout Lourawls "Tum Tum" Nairn Jr.), is averaging 14.7 points per game and leads the team with 9.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists, while sophomore guard Michael Ertel, the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year in 2017-18, is averaging 14.7 points per game and 4.0 assists. The Warhawks are scoring 74.7 points per game while shooting 45.3 percent from the floor. They have limited opponents to 38.5 percent shooting and limited Texas to only 41.9 percent shooting in Monday night's loss.
