Spartans Set to Host Beeman Invite

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State men's tennis team continues fall action this Friday, Oct. 11 when they play host to the Frank Beeman MSU Invite set to take place at the MSU Outdoor Courts.
The invite, which runs Oct. 11-13, will consist of one draw of 16 doubles teams. Teams will start by playing a six-game set of doubles, followed by two matches of singles with a 10-point match tiebreaker in lieu of a third set. The doubles team that wins two out of three matches will advance to the next round. Losing teams will be guaranteed a minimum of three singles and three doubles matches.

Including Michigan State, seven teams will be competing at the 1st Beeman Invite. Teams participating include: Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, DePaul, Marquette and Iowa.
The Spartans have competed in three tournaments this fall. Along with the Farnsworth-Ivy Plus Invite in Princeton, N.J., MSU took on the Bayliss Invite at Notre Dame and the WMU Invite in Kalamazoo.
Freshman Kazuki Matsuno leads the way for the Spartans in fall action, with five singles wins over two tournaments. Fellow freshman Jarrea Campbell has compiled six combined wins, including a perfect 3-0 record with freshman Drew Keene. Sophomore Anthony Pero combined for four wins at the Farnsworth-Ivy Plus for the Spartans.
