
Meet the Spartans: Brenden McRill

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State wrestling will feature a newcomer weekly throughout the preseason in order to "Meet the Spartans" leading up to the 2019-20 season. This week, redshirt sophomore Brenden McRill (Davison,Mich. / Davison High) sat down with msuspartans.com to answer some questions.
1. Why did you choose to wrestle at Michigan State?

I chose Michigan State because the coaches are who I want to lead me to an NCAA Championship.

2. What are you most excited about as you begin your Spartan wrestling career?
Â
I am most excited to be a part of this family that was built here at Michigan State.
Â
3. When did you first start wrestling?
Â
I started wrestling when I was six years old.
Â
4. What is your favorite wrestling memory?
Â
My favorite wrestling memory was being in the team stats finals three years in a row.

5. What are you majoring in at Michigan State and why?
Â
I am majoring in sociology here at Michigan State.

6. Who has taught you the most about wrestling growing up?
Â
Roy Hall has taught me the most about wrestling growing up.

7. If you were a superhero, what would be your power and what would be your name?
Â
My power would be invisibility and my name would be 'Invizo'

8. What is your favorite meal?
Â
My favorite meal is pizza.

9. Favorite TV show?
Â
My favorite TV show is Naruto.

10. Favorite thing to do besides wrestling?
I enjoy going listening to music.
BEFORE MSU:Â Wrestled freshman season at West Virginia where he went 10-15 overall and 6-7 in dual action at 184 pounds..Knocked off No. 18-ranked Dylan Gabel of Northern Colorado (3-1) on Feb. 3, 2018.
PREP: Lettered all four years at Davison High School under legendary coach, Roy Hall... Was captain of football team for three seasons and wrestling for two....two-time state champion.. Placed at state all four years...Compiled a 153-13 record in high school, including a 39-1 mark his junior season and 42-1 record during senior campaign...Davison finished as team runner-up three times...Also lettered in football three years and baseball one year.
