Throughout the spring, we're going to take the opportunity to bring you a quick Q&A session with each of our players. First up today - junior Meredith Norris.
Also - head to our instagram page (MichStVB) to see our players' "Stay Home, Stay Safe" playlists - we all need a little musical inspriation these days!
What is something unique about your hometown? Im from Corunna, Michigan - it is very small, with nothing but corn fields.
Sports you played growing up other than volleyball: Basketball and Track & Field
What is your favorite sport to watch?: The summer Olympic Games
My favorite volleyball memory?: Beating Creighton to go to the Elite 8 my freshman year.
What was your favorite subject when you were growing up?: Science
What is your major at MSU?: Kinesiology. I chose it because I knew I loved science and it was broad enough to explore what I could see myself doing in the future.

Do you have a nickname? How’d you get it? Big Murl. I got it from Marshall Repp, our old strength coach, made it up.
Who has been the most important or influential person in your life? My parents have been the most important people in my life. They both have made so many sacrifices to make sure that my sister and I could live out our dreams.
What is the best locker room prank you have ever seen? Shortly after I arrived on campus, Maddie Haggerty threw a piece of bread at me in attempt to replicate a scene from one of her favorite childhood pastimes, The Amanda Show. I didn’t understand the joke at first and we didn’t know each other very well, so it was quite awkward at the time, but we laugh about it now.
What is your favorite Big Ten city to visit? What has been your favorite non-conference road trip in your MSU career?: Minneapolis is my favorite Big Ten road trip. My favorite non-conference trip was going to Italy in summer of 2017.
If you had one family member to spend a week with on an all-expenses paid vacation, who would it be? Where would you go?: I would go to a warm, Caribbean island with my mom because we have very similar personalities. We would explore, chill on the beach, and have a good time on our own schedule.

Tell us about a teammate that has inspired you? What makes you look up to that person?: Autumn Bailey is a former teammate that inspired me when we played together and continues to inspire me as she pursues a professional volleyball career. When we played together, Autumn took me under her wing as she was a senior and I was a new freshman. She taught me all the "Do's and Don'ts" about being a member of Michigan State Volleyball program, while fostering a beautiful friendship that I will always cherish. Autumn is currently working through several knee surgeries, while battling for a position on the Canadian National Team with nothing but grace. Autumn always gave her full effort in everything she did on the court, but also was the goofiest person in the gym and never failed to put a smile on anyone’s face.
