Women's Tennis Hosts Iowa in B1G Opener Sunday

Michigan State opens the Big Ten season at home on Sunday against Iowa.
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's tennis begins conference play, hosting the Iowa Hawkeyes at 10 a.m. at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility in the 2020 B1G opener.
Michigan State is 8-4 on the season and won six-consecutive matches from Feb. 6 to Feb. 23 before falling to No. 11 Princeton on March 1.
The Spartans held a record of 9-2 during the month of February.
SCOUTING THE HAWKEYES
Iowa begins the 2020 season with a 5-6 overall record and also begin Big Ten play in East Lansing.
The Hawkeyes have won three of their last five matches, including wins over DePaul (6-1), Kansas State (4-3) and Northern Iowa (7-0).
Hawkeye senior Elise van Heuvelen Treadwell was named Big Ten Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week by the conference on March 3. Van Heuvelen Treadwell had two wins at No. 1 singles last week against Iowa State and Northern Iowa. She improves to 9-1 in singles and has won six in a row.
LAST TIME OUT
No. 11 Princeton stopped the Spartans' six-match win streak on March 1 in East Lansing to close out non-conference play.
The doubles duo of senior Samantha Memije and sophomore Nicole Stephens picked up their team-high eighth doubles victory this spring as they won a dominant match at the No. 3 position, taking down Princeton's Zoe Howard and Michelle Sorokko, 6-0.
Memije and Stephens improve to 8-3 overall during dual matches and 7-2 at the No. 3 position.
Sophomore Maja Pietrowicz leads the Spartans in singles so far this season. Pietrowicz stands at 8-3 in dual matches.
UP NEXT
Michigan State takes to the road next weekend for the first Big Ten road trip of the season. The Spartans open the weekend at Ohio State on Friday, March 13 at 6 p.m. before traveling to Penn State on Sunday, March 15 at 11 a.m.
