MSU Gymnastics Meet At Maryland Postponed

Spartans’ 2021 season-opener was scheduled for Jan. 23.

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State gymnastics' season-opener at Maryland originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23, has been postponed out of an abundance of caution surrounding the health and safety of the student-athletes due to interruptions in preparations caused by COVID restrictions.

"Due to COVID-related restrictions and shutdowns, our regular summer and fall practices were interrupted. In the sport of gymnastics, proper training and practice is essential for timing and reducing the likelihood of an injury. For the health and safety of our student-athletes, we have decided to postpone next week's meet" MSU head coach Mike Rowe said.

The schools will work with the Big Ten Conference to identify options for rescheduling the meet.

Michigan State's home opener is scheduled for the weekend of Jan. 29-31 vs. Nebraska at Jenison Field House.
