Women’s Golf Finishes in Third Place at The Landfall Tradition

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team put two players among the top-20 individuals and finished in third place among 18 teams in a highly-competitive field at The Landfall Tradition, held at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C. The Landfall Tradition was played on the Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye par-72, 6,150-yard course.
The Spartans shot a 1-over par 289 in the third and final round to finish the three-day, 54-hole tournament at 1-over par 865 (293-283-289).
South Carolina fired an 8-under par 280 in the final round and topped the field with a score of 15-under par 849 (291-278-280), with Michigan second at 3-under par 861.
Michigan State placed third, while Wake Forest (7-over par 871) and Virginia (8-over par 872) rounded out the top-five teams.

Senior Valery Plata (Floridablanca, Colombia/Colegio La Quinta del Puente) shot a 1-under par 71 in Sunday's final round and was the top finisher for Michigan State, tying for 10th place at 2-under par 214. Plata eagled the par-5, 511-yard fourth hole and closed out the tournament with a birdie on the par-5, 504-yard 18th hole.
Sophomore Valentina Rossi (Rosario, Argentina) was one shot back, tying for 12th place at 1-under par 251. Rossi shot an even-par 72 in the final round, with three birdies.
Sophomore Leila Raines (Galena, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) carded a 1-under par 71 on Sunday and finished in a tied for 23rd place at 2-over par 218.
Senior Haylin Harris (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) tied for 52nd place at 9-over par 225 (74-73-78) and freshman Brooke Biermann (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) finished in a tie for 66th at 12-over par 228 (84-69-75).
