Women’s Golf Finishes Play at Windy City Collegiate Classic

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team finished in 12th place among 15 teams at the Windy City Collegiate Classic with a 54-hole score of 58-over par 922.

The Spartans posted a final round of 22-over par 310 on Tuesday (304-308-3100.

Stanford won the event with a score of 14-over par 878, while Virginia finished in second place at 22-over par 886. Florida placed third (26-over par 890), with Texas (28-over par 892) in fourth and Oregon rounded out the top-five at 35-over par 899.

The Spartans had two individual among the top-20 finishers, led by senior Valery Plata (Floridablanca, Colombia/Colegio La Quinta del Puente), who tied for 14th place at 8-over par 224.

Freshman Brooke Biermann (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) carded a 3-over par 75 in the final round and finished in a tie for 19th place at 9-over par 225.

Sophomore Valentina Rossi (Rosario, Argentina) and freshman Katie Lu (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) tied for 66th place at 23-over par 239, while senior Haylin Harris (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) finished in 74th place at 28-over par 244.

The Spartans rea back in action from October 15-17, playing in the Tar Heel Invitational, being hosted by North Carolina at the UNC Finley Golf Course in North Carolina.
