Spartan Women Continue Road Trip at St. Francis Tuesday

MSU is in the midst of a three-game road trip.
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Michigan State women's basketball continues its three-game road trip, taking on St. Francis Brooklyn on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. The Spartans will end the three-game road swing with a post-Thanksgiving battle with in-state foe Oakland on Friday, Nov. 26 at 3 p.m.
• The Spartans suffered their first loss of the season, falling to Fordham 71-68 on Nov. 21. MSU now stands 4-1 in the season. St. Francis earned its first win of the season after defeating Rider, 74-62, on Nov. 20 on the road. The Terriers stand 1-3 so far this season.
• Senior guard Nia Clouden recorded a new season-best 22 points and five rebounds against Fordham. She has now scored in double figures in all five games and 76 career games. For the season, Clouden has averaged 17.6 points and 5.6 assists per game. The senior now has 20 career 20-point games including the last two.
• Graduate student forward Tamara Farqhuar had a career-high four blocks against Fordham on Nov. 21. She had previously had three on six occasions at Purdue. The forward also had her second double-digit rebound performance with 10 boards. Farquhar has made an immediate impact with the Spartans, including starting the last two games.

St. Francis Brooklyn enters the meeting with Michigan State with a 1-3 record. The Terriers earned their first win of the season with a 74-62 win over Rider on Nov. 20. St. Francis started the season with losses to Manhattan, Michigan and Penn. The Spartans are the second Big Ten opponent that the Terriers have met. Against the Wolverines, U-M won 82- 46 with Naz Hillmon scoring 19 points.
Last time out, St. Francis earned its road win of the season against Rider, 74-62. It was the Terriers first win over the Broncs since 2014, and their third win in the last five meetings.
St. Francis has two players averaging in double figures in scoring with Fruzsina Horvath leading the team with 16.0 ppg and Ally Lassen adding 10.0 ppg. SOLID FROM THE STRIPE
The Spartans tied a school record going 10-for-10 from the charity stripe against the Beacons on Nov. 16. The last time MSU didn't miss from the free throw line with at least 10 attempts was against Central Michigan in the NCAA Tournament, going 11-for-11 on March, 23, 2019. The last time at the Breslin Center was when MSU went 19-for-19 against Michigan on Feb., 23, 2016.

All-time, the Spartans are now 34-15 in season openers, but 27-2 when the opener is in East Lansing. Clouden now has 1,369 career points and is just two points away from passing Kelli Roehrig (2001-05) for No. 12 on the all-time MSU scoring list. HAGEMANN EARNS B1G HONOR
DeeDee Hagemann was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday. The Detroit, Michigan native captured the first Freshman of the Week honor of the season after a stellar first week of action, scoring in double figures in both games. For the week, she averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while adding 6.0 helpers per contest. She is the first Spartan named Big Ten Freshman of the Week since Nia Clouden on Dec. 31, 2018.

It was the most points per game by a Spartan since Tori Jankoska averaged 22.6 ppg during the 2016-17 season. An Owings Mills, Maryland, native, Clouden earned her third-straight All-Big Ten honor after being named to the first team last season.

Michigan State women's basketball head coach Suzy Merchant announced the signing of two National Letters of Intent, including Theryn Hallock (Grand Rapids, Michigan/ Forest Hills Central High School) and Abbey Kimball (Grand Rapids, Michigan/ West Catholic High School).
Hallock is a 5-11 guard, who is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, attends Forest Hills Central and is coached by Kristina Prins. As a junior, she averaged 23.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 6.6 steals per game. She reached the 1,000-career point mark as a junior last season. She also earned first-team all-state honors.
