Michigan State Gymnastics Adds Two

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State gymnastics head coach Mike Rowe announced the signings of two incoming freshmen for MSU's 2022 roster.

Lauren Hsu (Austin, Texas) and Katlyn Sawyer (North Reading, Mass.) are joining the Spartan freshmen class for the 2022 season.

Hsu and Saywer join three previous Spartan signees Genevieve Lebster (Holland, Michigan), Skyla Schulte (Bolingbrook, Illinois) and Gabrielle Stephen (Elgin, Illinois) in MSU's freshmen class for the 2022 season. {Click HERE to read more on earlier signings}.

Prior to MSU: Attends Westwood High School ... Trains at Austin Elite Gymnastics, where she is coached by Mike Hillin and Ashley Hiller ... Is a two-year Level 10 gymnast ... Level 9 Western vault and beam champion in 2019 ... Won the Level 9 regional vault title ... Captured the Level 9 state vault, beam and all-around crowns in 2019 ... Was also 2018 Level 9 state vault and beam champion, as well as Level 9 western qualifier in 2018 ... Also won the Level 8 state vault championship in 2016 ... On the Westwood High School Honor Roll ... Volunteers for local community service.

Personal: Daughter of Phillip and Kristen Hsu ... Has a brother, Mason.

Prior to MSU: Attends Lexington Christian Academy ... Trains at Brestyan's American Gymnastics, where she is coached by Mihia and Sylvie Brestyan ... Is a four-year Level 10 and three-time J.O. National Qualifier ... Help team to the third-place finish at the 2019 J.O. Nationals ... Won the vault, bars and floor titles, finishing second in the all-around at the 2019 state meet ... On the Lexington Christian Academy National Honor Society member ... Is a coach with the Special Olympics ... Also a volunteer for North Reading Little League Baseball.
