EAST LANSING, Mich. – Former Michigan State center Brian Allen, the starting center for the Los Angeles Rams, is a Super Bowl Champion.
Allen played every offensive snap for Los Angeles as the Rams rallied for a 23-20 victory over Cincinnati in Super Bowl LVI on Sunday night in SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Allen is the 29th former Spartan letterwinner to win a Super Bowl ring. He is also just one of 13 Spartans to play in at least two Super Bowls (played in Super Bowl LIII with the Rams).
Allen was a member of the 2015 Big Ten Championship team at Michigan State that also appeared in the College Football Playoff. A fourth-round NFL Draft selection by the Rams in 2018, Allen played in 51 career games for the Spartans from 2014-17, including 38 starts (17 at center, 16 at left guard, five at right guard). He started the final 28 games of his MSU career and was named a team captain in 2017 as a senior.
Former Spartan cornerback Trae Waynes, a first-round draft selection in 2015, also played in Super Bowl LVI for the Bengals on special teams.
In his fourth NFL season with the Rams, Allen started 16 of 17 regular-season games and all four playoff games at center for Los Angeles. He played 1,181 snaps in 20 total games, sixth most on the Rams offense.
The Hinsdale, Illinois, native played in 13 games and three postseason games with the Rams as a rookie in 2018 and started nine games at center in 2019, but was placed on injured reserve late in his second season after suffering a knee injury and did not see game action in 2020 before returning to the starting lineup in 2021.
