Spartans Tied for 10th after Two Rounds at ICON Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team posted a 36-hole score of 10-over par 586 and is tied for 10th place among 15 teams after the first two rounds of play at the ICON Invitational, being held at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
The 15-team field played two rounds on Monday and will close out with 18 holes on Tuesday. The field includes nine teams ranked among the top-50 nationally.
Results
Southern California, ranked No. 22 in the country, fired a 25-under par 551 and has a 16-stroke lead on the field, with Illinois (No. 29) second at 9-under par 567. Oklahoma State (No. 2) is third at 8-under par 568, while Texas A&M (No. 16) and Houston are tied for fourth place at 3-over par 579.
Michigan State (No. 31) is tied for 10th place with Ole Miss (No. 23) at 10-over par 586. The Spartans posted scores of 1-over 289 and 9-over par 297, respectively.
Senior Valery Plata led Michigan State, shooting an even-par 144 and standing in a tie for 17th place after two rounds. She posted consecutive scores of even-par 72.
Freshman Brooke Biermann and senior Haylin Harris are tied for 38th place with scores of 4-over par 148. Biermann had a team-best 1-under par 71 in the first round, while Harris shot a 2-over par 74 in the second round.
Sophomore Valentina Rossi is tied for 54th place at 7-over par 151 and junior Nina Rissi is tied for 67th place at 10-over par 154.
Michigan State will be paired with Ole Miss and TCU in Tuesday's final round.
