Spartans Finish Tied for 10th Place at ICON Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team shot a 2-under par 286 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for 10th place among 15 teams with an 8-over par 872 at the ICON Invitational, held at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
Southern California led from start to finish and won the team title, firing a 39-under par 825 over 54 holes. Illinois was second at 24-under par 840, Oklahoma State finished in third place at 19-under par 845, with Texas Tech (13-under par 851) and Texas A&M (5-under par 859) rounding out the top-five teams.
Final Results
The Spartans (289-297-286) tied for 10th place with Maryland.
Freshman Brooke Biermann and senior Valery Plata led Michigan State, tying for 23rd place at even-par 216. Biermann fired a team-best 4-under par 68 in the final round while Plata posted an even-par 72.
Sophomore Valentina Rossi carded a 2-under par 70 on Tuesday and tied for 41st place at 5-over par 221.
Senior Haylin Harris tied for 53rd place at 9-over par 225 and junior Nina Rissi tied for 70th place at 14-over par 230.
Michigan State is back out on the course on March 5-6, playing in the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
