Michigan State in Sixth Place in Third Round at the UCF Challenge

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team posted a 5-under par 283 in the second round on Monday and were 6-under par through 12 holes before play was halted due to darkness at the UCF Challenge, being held at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Orlando, Fla.
The teams were originally scheduled to play 18 holes on Monday and conclude with 18 on Tuesday, but with inclement weather in the area predicted, the field tried to play the final two rounds. The teams will play the final holes on Tuesday morning.
Second Round Results
Wake Forest leads the field at 39-under par, 10 shots ahead of second place Kentucky (29-under par). Virginia is in third place at 24-under par, with Charleston in fourth place at 18-under par and Auburn at 17-under par. The Spartans sit at 15-under par and are in sixth place in the field of 18 teams.
Freshman Brooke Biermann (Wildwood, Mo. / Lafayette) shot a 1-under par 71 in the second round and was 3-under par through 12 holes in the final round and is tied for ninth place, leading the Spartans.
Sophomore Valentina Rossi (Rosario, Argentina) posted a 1-over par 73 in the second round after a 4-under par 68 on Sunday. She was 1-under par through 13 holes and stands in a tie for 22nd place at 4-under par.
Senior Valery Plata (Floridablanca, Colombia / Colegio La Quinta del Puente) posted a 2-under par 70, and was 1-under par through 13 holes. She is tied for 39th at 1-under par.
Senior Haylin Harris (Carmel, Ind. / Carmel) posted the team's best score in the second round with a 3-under par 69 and was tied for 44th place overall at even par.
Junior Nina Rissi (Barcelona, Spain) shot a 3-over par 75 in Monday's morning round and is tied for 57th place at 3-over par.
Teams will off at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
