Spartans in Eighth Place after First Round at the Clemson Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team shot an 11-over par 299 and is in eighth place among 18 teams after the first round of play at the Clemson Invitational, being played at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C.
The three-day, 54-hole event is being played on the par-72, 6.836-yard course at Lake Keowee, located in upstate South Carolina and with breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Teams will play 18 holes on Saturday (9 a.m. start) and close out on Sunday with 18 holes.
First Round Results
Host Clemson and Illinois are tied for first place with scores of 4-over par 292, while Florida is in third place at 6-over par 294 and Furman is in fourth place at 7-over par 295.
The Spartans are in eighth place at 11-over par 299, just two shots behind LSU, Kentucky and UNCW, who are tied for sixth place at 9-over par 297.
Michigan State has its top three players all within three strokes, led by freshman Brooke Biermann, who is tied for 10th place with a score of even-par 72.
Junior Nina Rissi is one shot back, standing in a tie for 14th place at 1-over par 73, and sophomore Valentina Rossi carded a 2-over par 74 and is tied for 20th place.
Senior Haylin Harris is tied for 76th place at 8-over par 80 and sophomore Leila Raines is tied for 86th place at 9-over par 81.
Playing as an individual, freshman Katie Lu shot an even-par 72 and is tied for 10th place.
