Spartans Finish in 6th Place at Clemson Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team shot a 21-over par 309 in the final round and finished in sixth place among 18 teams at the Clemson Invitational, held at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C.
The Spartans had been in second place and just two shots off the lead of Kentucky heading into the final round.
LSU shot a 4-over par 292 in the final round to move up from third place and finished first in the field at 27-over par 891. Illinois finished in second place at 28-over par 892, with Kentucky in third place at 31-over par 895, Florida fourth at 32-over par 896 and Florida State in fifth place at 33-over par 897.
Michigan State finished in sixth place at 40-over par 904.
Final Results
Freshman Brooke Biermann was the top finisher for Michigan State, tying for third place at 2-over par 218. She finished with a 3-over par 75 after scores of even-par 72 and 1-under par 71.
Junior Nina Rissi finished tied for 19th in the field of 101 golfers, posting a 9-over par 225, closing with a 5-over par 77 on Sunday.
Sophomore Valentina Rossi tied for 38th place at 14-over par 230 with a 6-over par 78 in the final round.
Senior Haylin Harris tied for 74th place at 20-over par 236 and sophomore Leila Raines finished in a tie for 81st place at 22-over par 238.
Playing as an individual, freshman Katie Lu shot a 4-over par 76 on Saturday and tied for 15th place overall with a score of 8-over par 224.
Michigan State is off until April 15-16, when they play in the Lady Buckeye Invitational at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio
