Women’s Golf in Sixth Place at Gators Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team posted a 36-hole score of 19-over par 579 (295-284) and is in sixth place among 15 teams at the Gators Invitational, being played at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.
The 15-team field played 36 holes on Saturday over two rounds and will close out with 18 holes on Sunday at the par-70, 6,002-yard course.
Results
The Spartans posted a 15-over par 295 in the first round on Saturday and bounced back with a 4-over par 284 in the afternoon round.
Oklahoma State, ranked No. 2 in the country, leads the field at 3-over par 563. Host Florida (No. 7) and Ole Miss (No. 10) are tied for second place at 10-over par 570, with Mississippi State fourth at 12-over par 572 and Michigan in fifth place at 15-over par 575.
Senior Valery Plata led Michigan State, shooting a 1-over par 141 and tying for sixth place after rounds of 2-over par 72 and 1-under par 69, respectively.
Senior Haylin Harris is tied for 10th place at 2-over par 142. She opened with a 3-over par 73, but bounced back with a 1-under 69 in the afternoon session.
Sophomore Valentina Rossi is tied for 30th place at 6-over par 146, including a 1-over par 71 in the second round.
Freshman Brooke Biermann and sophomore Leila Raines are tied for 53rd place with scores of 11-over par 151, respectively.
Playing as individuals, junior Nina Rissi is tied for 53rd place at 11-over par 151 (77-74) and freshman Katie Lu is tied for 72nd place at 18-over par 158 (80-78)
Michigan State will be paired with Mississippi State and Michigan in Sunday's final round.
