Women’s Golf Finishes in Fifth Place at Gators Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team shot a 3-over par 283 in the final round and finished in fifth place among 15 teams with a 54-hole score of 22-over par 862 at the Gators Invitational, being played at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.
Host Florida and Michigan came from behind and shared the team title, posting scores of 11-over par 851.
Oklahoma State, ranked No. 2 in the country, had a three-shot lead after two rounds and finished in third place at 14-over par 854, with Mississippi State fourth at 19-over par 859 and Spartans three shots back at 22-over par 862.
Senior Valery Plata was the top finisher for Michigan State, tying for fourth place in the field at 2-over par 212, including a 1-over par 71 in the final round.
Senior Haylin Harris posted a three-round score of 4-over par 214 and tied for 14th place, carding a 2-over par on Sunday.
Freshman Brooke Biermann and sophomore Leila Raines tied for 38th place at 11-over par 221. The duo had the team's best round of the day, each shooting an even-par 70.
Sophomore Valentina Rossi tied for 52nd place at 15-over par 225.
Playing as individuals, junior Nina Rissi tied for 49th place at 13-over par 223 and freshman Katie Lu tied for 69th place at 25-over par 235.
Michigan State plays next in the Clemson Invitational from March 25-27.
