Spartans Finish in Fourth Place at Lady Buckeye Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team posted its best score of the tournament in the final round and finished in fourth place among 10 teams at the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
The Spartans fired a 9-over par 297 on Saturday and finished in with a two-day, 54-hole score of 52-over par 916.
Host Ohio State finished in first place with a 33-over 897, while Kent State was second at 48-over par 912 and Illinois placed fourth at 49-over par 913.
Senior Valery Plata finished with an even-par 72 on Saturday in the final round and finished in a tie for second place at 5-over par 221 to lead
Sophomore Leila Raines had MSU's best round of the day, a 1-under par 71, and finished in a tie for 15th place at 14-over par 230. Freshman Katie Lu also finished with a 14-over par 230 and tied for 15th place.
Sophomore Valentina Rossi in 34th place at 21-over par 237 after an 8-over par 80 on Saturday, while freshman Brooke Biermann shot a 6-over par 78 and tied for 44th place at 26-over par 242.
Junior Nina Rissi finished in 53rd place with a 31-over par 247.
Michigan State is back in action next weekend, playing in the Big Ten Championships at Fox Chapel Country Club in Pittsburgh, Pa. from April 22-24.
