A win on Saturday improves Michigan State's overall record to 23-24 and moves the team closer to locking in a spot at the 2022 Big Ten Tournament.
Sophomore Ashley Miller earned the win throwing four no-hit innings, striking out four Purdue batters in the process. Junior Sarah Ladd entered the game in the fifth inning and completed the final three innings of the contest, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out two. It's the second consecutive game that Miller and Ladd have combined for the shutout.

Junior Camryn Wincher went 2-for-4 at the plate to pace the Spartan offense on Saturday. A total of nine different Spartans reached base in the contest. Senior's Abby Joseph, Jessica Mabrey and Kendall Kates all had extra-base hits for MSU with Joseph and Mabrey sliding into third with triples. Kates hit her first home run of the season in the fourth inning and was intentionally walked twice.
Michigan State scored a pair of runs in the second inning after fifth year Caitie Ladd and Kates reached base. A two-out triple to shallow left field from Joseph allowed Ladd and Kates to cross the plate. Purdue's left fielder lost the ball in the sun allowing it to drop as the speedy Joseph took third.
