Outside Hitter Grace Kelly Transfers to Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State head volleyball coach Leah Johnson announced the addition of outside hitter Grace Kelly on Friday. Kelly joins the Spartans from Virginia Tech University with three more years of eligibility.

"Grace is going to surprise some people," Johnson said. "She is a true competitor in everything she does. She's physical, has a growth mindset and a very strong skillset. She wants to be great, and that drive is going to go a long way in our gym."

Kelly, a 6-0 outside hitter, is a native of Alexandria, Virginia. In one year at Virginia Tech, Kelly appeared in a pair of matches against Florida State and Miami (Fla.). Kelly was a four-year letterwinner at Mount Vernon High School, earning All-Region honors as a junior and senior after garnering All-District nods during her freshman and sophomore seasons.

"I chose Michigan State for the people and the amazing coaching staff that made me feel like I could fall in love with volleyball all over again," Kelly said.

Kelly joins transfers Zoe Nunez, Aliyah Moore, and Nalani Iosia, and incoming freshmen Maradith O'Gorman, Evie Doezema, Jahylin Swain, and Lauren Schutter in their commitment to Michigan State next season.
