ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Michigan State track & field continues the indoor season at the Michigan Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the University of Michigan's U-M Indoor Track Building. Action begins at 11 a.m.Â
The meet will be the second of the indoor season and first in 2023 for the Spartans. Live streaming and live results will be available at MSUSpartans.com via Sidearm Stats.Â
MSU returns to action after a month-long break from competition, last competing on December 9 at the GVSU Holiday Open. Overall, the Spartans posted six first-place event finishes, led by Nala Barlow (400m), Sophia Mettes (pole vault) and Korin Whitcomb (high jump) on the women's side and Noah Sage (400m), Antonio Postell (60m) and Trevor Stephenson (pole vault) on the men's side.Â
Saturday's meet marks the return of the Spartan distance runners, highlighted by 2022 NCAA All-American John Petruno in the 800m. 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championship qualifiers Aden Smith and CarLee Stimpfel will run the men's 3000m. On the women's side, four Spartans will run the 800m, four will run the mile and graduate student Annika Linzmeier will run the 3000m. Â
MSU also posts entries in the 60m, 400m, 600m and 60m hurdles. On the field, the Spartans will compete in the high jump, long jump, pole vault, shot put and weight throw. Both the men's and women's teams will run in the 4x400 relays for the first time this season.Â
