• Michigan State returns home to Mason Rink and will host Canisius in a Thursday-Friday series.  These will be the first-ever games between the two schools.  MSU enters the Canisius series with a 3-1 record, sweeping Lake Superior State and splitting a road series at Air Force; Canisius began its season last weekend and dropped both games on the road at Miami.   Â
•  MSU has scored 19 goals, and its 4.75 goals per game is ranked first in the Big Ten and 10th nationally.  The Spartans also rank first in the Big Ten (and first nationally) in assists (33) and points (52).  MSU's 19 goals through the first four games is the most since the 1994-95 squad put 21 goals on the board over its first four contests.  A total of 19 players have scored at least one point for MSU this season, and four who are averaging a point per game or better. Â
•  The line of Red Savage centering Joey Larson and Gavin O'Connell is MSU's top-scoring trio.  They posted six goals and five assists last week at Air Force and have a combined 17 points on the year (8-9-17). Larson, the Big Ten Second Star of the Week, recorded a hat trick in MSU's most recent game against Air Force and had a five-point weekend (3-2-5).  Larson and Savage share the team lead in all three offensive categories with three goals, four assists and seven points through four games.  Savage posted a goal and three assists in the weekend at Air Force, and tied for the team lead with three blocked shots and 21 faceoff wins. O'Connell had an assist in his first collegiate game, and then generated two goals (one each night) in the series at Air Force. Â
• Fifth year senior Nicolas Müller led the Spartan offense with four points opening weekend, and then had a goal and an assist at Air Force.  He is third on the team in points (2-4-6).  Müller ranks tied for fourth in the Big Ten in points (6) and is tied with Savage and Larson for fourth in the Big Ten with four assists.  He has contributed one of MSU's three power-play goals. Â
• Senior blueliner Nash Nienhuis is paired with freshman Artyom Levshunov on the blueline, and the duo is tied for the scoring lead among the team's defensemen (1-2-3). Levshunov is tied for the team lead in shots on goal (17, second in the B1G) and is tied for the team lead with a +6.  Levshunov is the third-youngest player in college hockey this year.  Â
•  Freshman Trey Augustine has started all four games for MSU and owns a 3.00 GAA, .903 save percentage, and all three MSU wins.  Augustine played four periods at Air Force, making 38 saves and allowing six scores. Luca Di Pasquo made his collegiate debut on Thursday at Air Force in relief of Augustine, and made 13 saves and allowed two goals over the final two periods. Â
