Spartans Travel West for Chambers Bay Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's golf team travels West this weekend, playing in the Chambers Bay Invitational, hosted by Seattle University at Chambers Bay Golf Club in Seattle Wash. on Monday, April 3 and Tuesday, April 4.
CHAMBERS BAY INVITATIONAL
Dates: Monday, April 3 – Tuesday, April 4
Course: Chambers Bay, University Place, Wash.
Par/Yardage: 72/7
Format: Stroke play, 54 holes / Play five, count four

Some of golf's great championships have been decided on these fairways and greens. Located in University Place, Washington, this 18-hole, walking-only golf course provides an authentic links experience for players of every ability.

Michigan State shot a 4-over par 284 in the final round and wrapped up play in the Johnnie-O at Sea Island, held at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga. On March 14 … The Spartans posted their best round of the tournament in the final round and finished in 11th place among 13 teams with a three-round, 54-hole score of 869 (294-291-284) … Senior Drew Hackett had the best round of the day for the Spartans, a 1-under par 69, and tied for 18th place at 3-over par 213 (72-72-69). … Senior Bradley Smithson finished in a tied for 29th place at 6-over par 216 (72-71-73), finishing the tournament with a 3-over par 73.

"This is a unique event for us, but I know our guys are very excited to visit the Seattle area and to get the chance and play in the Pacific Northwest. Chambers Bay is a tremendous course and a different style of golf than most of our guys have played before. We're really looking forward to this experience."
