Spartans in 10th Place at Fighting Irish Classic

East Lansing, Mich. – After a difficult first round, Michigan State's men's golf team bounced back to shoot a 6-over par 290 in the second around and is in 10th place among 15 teams at the Fighting Irish Classic, being played at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
The final round of play will be held on Monday, Oct. 7.
The Spartans finished two rounds on Sunday with a scored of 22-over par 582 (296-286).
Notre Dame is in first place at 2-over par 862, one shot ahead of second-place Louisville, with UCLA, Little Rock and Purdue rounding out the top-five teams.
Day One Results
Junior Caleb Bond leads the Spartans, standing in a tie for 30th place at 5-over par 145 (75-70). He was one of two MSU players to post an even-par 70 in the second round.
Senior Ashton McCulloch and freshman Julian Menser are tied for 37th place at 6-over par 146. McCulloch shot a 2-over par 72 in the opening round (72-74), while Menser closed with an even-par 70 (76-70).
Sophomore Lorenzo Pinili is tied for 59th place at 9-over par 149 (73-76) and freshman Juan Velasquez is tied for 56th place at 16-over par 156 (84-72).
Playing as an individual, freshman Drew Miller is tied for 37th place at 6-over par 146 (74-72).
The Spartans tee off beginning at 8:30 a.m. on the 10th hole, playing alongside Duke and Augusta University.
