McCulloch Tied for Seventh, Spartans in Sixth Place at The Ford

East Lansing, Mich. – Junior Ashton McCulloch is tied for seventh place at 4-under par and Michigan State's men's golf team is in sixth place at 1-under par 540 after the first day of play at the inaugural Invitational at The Ford, being hosted by Georgia Southern at the Ford Field & River Club in Richmond Hill, Ga.
Play was suspended late in the second round due to darkness.
The Spartans shot a 4-under par 284 in the opening round and were at 1-under par 540 through 14 holes before play was stopped.
McCulloch opened with a 4-under par 68 in the opening round and was at even par through 15 holes to tie for seventh place.
A trio of Michigan State golfers are tied for sixth place at 1-over par, graduate student Drew Hackett and seniors August Meekhof and Bradley Smithson. Hackett fired a 3-under par 69 in the first round, while Meekhof was at 2-over par 74 and Smithson at 1-over par 73, respectively.
Freshman Lorenzo Pinili shot a 4-over par 76 in the first round while classmate Lucas Acevdeo, playing as an individual, shot a 3-over par 75.
The Invitational at the Ford will conclude on Tuesday.
