Bond Fires a 9-Under Par 204, Spartans Tie for Third Place at the Boilermaker Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State junior men's golfer Caleb Bond fired a 9-under par 204 and two players finished among the top-20 overall as the Spartans finished in a tied for third place among 18 teams at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament was played on Purdue's par-71, 7,275-yard Ackerman-Allen Golf Course and concludes on Sunday.
The Spartans shot a 1-over par 285 in the final round and finished the tournament at 10-under par 842 (280-277-285). MSU's score of 842 is the 11th-lowest 54-hole team score in program history.
Marquette topped the field at 16-under par 836, two shots better than host Purdue, second at 14-under par 842. Michigan State tied for third place at 10-under par 842 with Illinois, while Notre Dame and Indiana tied for fifth place at 9-under par 843.
Bond was the leader for the Spartans throughout the weekend. He fired a 1-under par 69 in the final round and finished in second place at 9-under par 204 (67-68-69). Bond's score of 204 is tied for the sixth-lowest 54-hole score in program history and was the lowest for a Spartan since Ashton McCulloch shot a 204 at the Johnnie-O at Sea Island in March, 2024. The score also tied a career-best for Bond and his runner-up finish was his best at the Division I level.
Freshman Julian Menser shot an even-par 71 in the final round and tied for 18th place at 1-under par 212 (70-71-71). Menser's score of 212 was a season-best and he posted his first career top-20 finish.
Sophomore Lorenzo Pinili posted a 2-over par 73 in the third round and tied for 43rd place at 3-over par 216 (71-72-73).
Freshman Drew Miller, who was tied for 20th place entering the final round, shot a 6-over par 77 on Sunday and tied for 53rd place at 5-over par 218 (72-69-77).
Sophomore Lucas Acevedo posted a 1-over par 72 on Sunday and finished in 56th place at 6-over par 219 (78-69-72).
Michigan State opens postseason play next weekend, traveling to Baltimore, Md. to play in the Big Ten Championships (Friday, April 25 to Sunday, April 27) at the Baltimore Country Club.
