Wrestling Falls at No. 12 Michigan in Big Ten Dual Opener

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan State wrestling fell to intrastate rival and No. 12-ranked Michigan in its Big Ten dual opener on Friday night, 43-3, at the Crisler Center.
The Spartans move to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in Big Ten duals this season. MSU returns to the mat on home next Friday to take on Illinois at 7:00 p.m. from Jenison Field House.
Redshirt sophomore 133-pounder Caleb Weiand continued his strong season up at 133 pounds on Friday picking up a 9-6 decision over Guage Botero. On bottom to start the second period, Weiand reversed Botero to take a 2-0 lead before earning four near fall in the same sequence to lead 6-0.
Michigan won nine of ten bouts on the evening, scoring bonus point victories at 125, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184 and heavyweight.
