Spartan Track & Field Ends Regular Season with Five First-Place Finishes

EAST LANSING, Mich. – In the final tune-ups before the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships, Michigan State had a solid showing at both the Silverston Invitational and the Alex Wilson Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Over the two meets, the Spartans captured five event titles.
Silverston Invitational | Feb. 20 | Ann Arbor, Mich.
On Friday at the Silverston Invitational, Michigan State accumulated three first-place finishes in Ann Arbor. The Spartans found great success in the men's shot put. Dillon Morlock won the event with throw of 19.62m, which is No. 2 all-time at Michigan State. His brother, Colby Morlock, finished second with a personal-best throw of 18.97m. It was also the No. 5 throw all-time at Michigan State. The school record was set by All-American Antonio James in 2014 with a throw of 19.93m.
In the women's shot put, Rylan Finstrom won with a throw of 15.67m. Dalton DeBeau captured the third first-place finish for Michigan State with a win in the men's shot put. He took the event title with a throw of 20.08m, which was No.9 all-time at MSU.
In the women's weight throw, Margaret Jones was second with a throw of 16.60m.
Alex Wilson Invitational | Feb. 21 | South Bend, Ind.
Alex Yon captured first in the men's 600m, crossing the line in 1:19.67at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend. It was the  No. 8-best time at Michigan State. The time was a new personal best.
Noah Sage began his successful day with a first-place finish in the 400m. He finished in a season-best time of 47.47.
The men's distance medley relay team of Tim Cherry, Sage, Brady McArdle and Andrew Nolan crossed the line in 9:40.01 to finish 10th. The time was sixth-best in the Spartan record books.
Matthew Schroff had a personal best and finished fifth in the mile with a time of 4:07.53, while in the women's mile Taylor Ewert was fourth with a season-best time of 4:46.60. Mia Rogan also had PR in the 800m with a time of 2:10.68 to finish fourth.
Michigan State will now head to Indianapolis for the 2026 Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships Feb. 26-28 at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion.
