Men’s Golf Finishes Third at Duck Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – The Michigan State men's golf team finished in third place out of 15 teams at the Duck Invitational, played at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon.
The third-place finish marks the Spartans best 54-hole finish of the season.
Illinois took home the team championship, finishing 5-over par 857, followed by the host Oregon at 15-over par 867, the Spartans at 16-over par 868, Oregon State (18-over par 870), and St. Mary's (20-over par 872) to round out the top five.
For the third-straight event, senior Ashton McCulloch led the charge for the Spartans, finishing in third place after shooting 2-under par 211 (67-72-72). His round one 4-under par 67 was his second-lowest single-round score of the season (65 at Watersound Invitational). McCulloch now has two top-five finishes on the season and eight for his career.
Senior Caleb Bond finished in 12th place after shooting 3-over par 216 (70-73-73). A 1-under par 70 marked Bond's team-leading 12th under-par round of the season.
Junior Lorenzo Pinili shot an 8-over par 221 (73-74-74) to place 32nd. Pinili saw success on hole 16, a 522-yard par-5, scoring two birdies and a par over three rounds.
Junior McCoy Biagioli finished in 49th place after shooting 11-over par 224 (73-74-77).
Classmate Lucas Acevedo shot 13-over par 225 (70-80-75) to finish in 59th place. Acevedo's 1-under par 70 was his best single-round score of the season not playing as an individual.
Playing as an individual, junior Julian Menser shot 10-over par 223 (73-74-76). Menser recorded his second eagle of the season in round one, hole 13, a 525-yard par-5.
Next up for the Spartans is the Robert Kepler Collegiate, hosted by Ohio State and played at Columbus Country Club in Columbus, Ohio. Play will start Saturday, April 11.
