Scouting Keyton: Possesses a lot of bat power... made strides at becoming at complete hitter in the fall... will see time at the designated hitter position... also will be a back-up first baseman.
2005: Played in 13 games, making six starts as a designated hitter and two at first base, batting .179... had two RBI at Indiana (4/8)... hit his first collegiate home run in only at bat vs. Penn State on May 14.
2004: Did not see action.
High School: Earned all-conference, all-area, all-district and all-state honors as a senior... selected to the Detroit Free Press Dream Team his senior season... hit .489 as a senior with 11 home runs, 49 RBI and a 1.011 slugging percentage... as a junior, earned first-team all-conference and honorable mention all-area accolades... received first-team all-conference honors as a sophomore in 2001... earned honorable mention all-conference honors as a freshman in 2000... baseball team captain in 2002 and 2003... football team captain in 2002... also lettered in football where he played linebacker and tight end from 2001-02 and in basketball in the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons.
Personal: Born Dec. 21, 1984, to James and Diane Keyton... a civil engineering major... father played baseball and football at Arizona State... three relatives played varsity sports at Michigan State - Kerry Keyton, football, 1988-90; Tracey (1982) and Lesley (1986-87) Keyton, softball... favorite baseball team is the New York Yankees.
