Prior to MSU: Played two seasons for the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League (USHL) ... In 2007-08, was the squad[apos]s top-scoring defenseman, as he scored six goals and added 26 assists for 32 points, contributed three power-play goals, and was a +15 in 60 games ... Fourth on the team in assists, and was sixth in plus/minus... ... Selected to participate in the 2008 USHL All-Star Game ... Helped the Steel to a 32-22-6 record in his final season in Chicago, and into the USHL semifinals ... Had two-year totals of eight goals and 43 assists (51 points) with 70 PIM in 119 games ...
