Michigan State looked strong again in the morning session of the L&L/MSU Volleyball Classic on Saturday, Sept. 5, defeating Central Michigan 15-5, 15-5, 15-9, to raise its record to 2-0 overall.
Senior outside hitter Jenna Wrobel again led the Spartans with 14 kills, nine digs and three blocks. Sophomore Sarah Gustin tallied 11 kills on 16 attempts, while freshman Erin Hartley hit eight kills to go along with six digs in her first collegiate start.
The Spartans thoroughly dominated through the first two games, and in the third all but two on the roster saw action. Junior transfer Kayleen Cook and freshman Katie Kowalski saw their first action as MSU players, while middle Maren Witzel, a redshirt freshman, had another solid outing with three kills, two digs and a block.
In other action on Saturday, Pittsburgh defeated Eastern Michigan 3-0. MSU returns to action at 7 p.m. versus Pittsburgh in the finale of the Classic.
