EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State volleyball announces the addition of Craig Vlietstra as the second assistant volleyball coach. He takes the place of Doug Tully who was named head coach at Mankato State in June.
Vlietstra, a native of Kalamazoo, Mich., earned a bachelors degree in business administration from Western Michigan University in 1994. He was the head coach at Plainwell High School from 1995-97 and the assistant coach at Glen Oaks Community College from 1996-97 before joining the Sports Performance Program in West Chicago, Ill., where he spent the last year. Vlietstra broke into coaching as an assistant coach at Parchment High School in 1994.
"Were very pleased to have a coach of Craigs experience," said Michigan State head coach Chuck Erbe. "Were looking forward to him joining the staff. He is a great addition. He brings a lot of energy and a great work ethic to our program."
