Three Spartan Spikers Tabbed For Summer Play

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Sophomore Erin Hartley is one of 18 finalists who have been invited to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., to compete for one of 12 spots on the Junior National Volleyball Team. If Hartley makes the final cut she will represent the United States at the World Junior Championships in Canada from Aug. 27-Sept. 6.
Junior Christie Landry was selected as one of the top 18 collegians in the U.S. that are preparing in Colorado Springs for the World University Games, held in Spain during the first week of July. The WUG team will eventually be pared to 12 players.
In addition, Landry has been invited to participate with the Pan-American Games training squad in Colorado Springs during the month of July in preparation for an international tournament during the first week of August.
Junior Sarah Gustin is the third Spartan with the possibility of competing for the USA this summer. She was extended an invitation to try out for the Pan-American Games training squad and may join Landry in Colorado Springs this summer.
