Women's Volleyball Announces 1998 Captains

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Senior Jenna Wrobel, along with juniors Jenny Whitehead and Tammy Vonderheide have been selected by their Michigan State teammates as tri-captains for the upcoming volleyball season.

Wrobel, an outside hitter, returns for her final season after being named first-team All-Big Ten for the third straight year and to the NCAA All-District team in 1997. Whitehead, a senior academically, returns from an injury-shortened 1997 season which still saw her finish 10th in the Big Ten in hitting percentage and ninth in blocks per game. Vonderheide has been a valuable contributor in the back row as well as at outside hitter for MSU, and started or saw time in virtually every Spartan match during her first two seasons.

Michigan State hosts its annual alumni match on August 20 at 1 p.m. The Spartans open their season by hosting the L&L/MSU Volleyball Classic on Sept. 4-5 in Jenison Field House with Pittsburgh, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan.
