Volleyball Signs Three For Class of 2005

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State volleyball team has announced the signing of three players to National Letters of Intent for the 2001-2002 school year. All three will be incoming freshmen.
Kim Schram is a 6-0 outside hitter from London, Ontario. Schram is a three-sport MVP in volleyball, basketball and track at Oakridge Secondary School, where she plays on the left side for coach Vaughn Peckham. She also plays for the Forest City Volleyball Club under coach Lloyd Rumble, and is a member of the Canadian Junior National Team and the Ontario Provincial Team. Schram, who owns dual citizenship in Canada and the United States, will be the third generation in her family to attend Michigan State. She is the daughter of Rob and Cheryl Schram. Schram currently maintains a 3.8 grade point average and plans to major in arts and sciences at Michigan State.
Diana Steplyk is a 5-11 outside hitter from Libertyville, Ill. The first of the 2001 class to verbally commit to MSU, Steplyk is a two-sport standout at Libertyville High School in volleyball and basketball. In her chosen sport, Steplyk earned 1999 and 2000 first-team Illinois all-state honors and was named to the 1999 and 2000 Chicago Sun-Times All-Area Team while playing for coach Chris Trzyna and the Libertyville team. In club ball, Steplyk played for the Sky-Hi Volleyball Club in 1999-2000 under the direction of coach Scott Harris and currently plays for the Sports Performance Volleyball Club and coach Rick Butler. She was the USA Volleyball High Performance Camp MVP and was the recipient of the President's Award for Education Excellence at her school. The daughter of Dr. Tony and Judy Steplyk, Diana maintains a 4.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale and plans to major in the arts or business at Michigan State.
Megan Wallin is a 6-2 middle hitter from Sarasota, Fla. A four-time school MVP in volleyball and a standout in basketball and track, Wallin led Cardinal-Mooney High School, under the direction of coach Sean Ford, to the Florida State Championship game last week, where the team finished second. She was named to the 1999 and 2000 Florida All-State team. Wallin plays for the Whitesands Volleyball Club and coach Justin Inghram. Megan, the daughter of Tom and Linda Wallin, maintains a 3.5 grade point average and has been the class president through all four years of high school. She plans to major in management at Michigan State.
