Volleyball Ranked No. 20 in AVCA Preseason Poll

East Lansing, MI - The Michigan State Spartan volleyball team is ranked No. 20 in the nation, according to the preseason USA Today/AVCA Coaches Top 25 poll, released August 14. MSU, which was not ranked in the final poll of 1999, received 334 points in the poll.
The Spartans will face seven schools in the top 25 in 2000, including No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 Penn State, No. 6 Nebraska, No. 11 Minnesota, No. 16 Wisconsin, No. 24 Michigan and No. 25 Ohio State. Three other MSU opponents also received votes in the poll: Notre Dame, Illinois and San Diego. Seven of 11 Big Ten schools are recognized in the poll.
The Spartans, who open their season with the L&L/MSU Classic on Sept. 1-2, are ranked No. 12 in the Volleyball Magazine preseason poll.
