Hartley Named To District Volleyball All-Academic Third Team

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior Erin Hartley (Midland, Mich.) was named today to the Verizon Academic All-District IV University Division Women's Volleyball third team.
Hartley, an education major with a 3.58 grade point average, was a unanimous selection to the preseason All-Big Ten team. Earlier this season she became the seventh Spartan volleyball player to total 1,000 career kills and digs, and entering tonight's match at No. 9 Ohio State, ranks fifth all-time at MSU with 1,411 career kills and 10th with 1,035 career digs. In addition, Hartley has also moved into seventh place on MSU's career block assists list (295) and eighth in career total blocks (359).
Hartley leads MSU this season in kills (315) and hitting percentage (.326) and ranks second in total blocks (89) and digs (184). She was named Big Ten Player of the Week Sept. 10 after her performance at the Coca-Cola Spartan Invitational Sept. 7-8, where she was named MVP after leading all players in kills (51), hitting percentage (.536), blocks (14) and digs (36) during three Spartan victories. She was also named to the MSU Volleyball Classic All-Tournament team.
The district team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve, and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.
