MSU Volleyball Ranked 19th in Final Top 25 Poll

EAST LANSING, Mich. - A strong finish to the season helped propel the Michigan State volleyball team to 19th in the final USA Today/AVCA Top 25 poll, released today. The Spartans, who won 10 of their final 12 matches including wins over four nationally-ranked teams, finished with a 21-8 record to earn their first national ranking in the season-ending poll since 1998.
National champion Stanford received 62 of 65 first-place votes to earn the No. 1 ranking, while runner-up Long Beach State collected the other three first place votes to finish in second. Other Big Ten teams in the top 25 include No. 7 Wisconsin, No. 12 Ohio State, No. 17 Penn State and No. 20 Illinois, while Minnesota also received votes.
Michigan State will lose only one player next season, second team All-American Erin Hartley, from its rotation of players who saw significant action this year.
