EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State head volleyball coach Chuck Erbe has signed Brooke Langston (Germantown, Tenn./Evangelical Christian) to a National Letter of Intent for the 2001-02 school year.
Langston, a 6-foot-2 middle/outside hitter, was a two-time all-state honoree in volleyball (1999 and 2000) and a High School Christian Student-Athlete All-America First-Team honoree. She played volleyball for coach Tommy Danner at Evangelical Christian School and was a member of the Memphis Junior Club Team.
In addition, Langston was the Tennessee State Track Champion in the pentathlon, high jump and the 4x100 relay team. She is a three-time all-state honoree in track (1999, 2000 and 2001).
"Brooke is a tremendous all-around athlete and a great student," said Erbe. "She brings an unique combination of explosive jumping ability and extremely quick reactions to the volleyball court. She will train in both the middle and outside hitter positions."
Langston is the fourth recruit to sign with the MSU volleyball team. During the early signing period last November, the Spartans inked 6-2 middle hitter Megan Wallin (Sarasota, Fla./Cardinal-Mooney), 5-11 outside hitter Diana Steplyk (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) and 6-0 outside hitter Kim Schram (London, Ont./Oakridge Secondary).
