EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior middle blocker Angela Morley (Holland, Mich./West Ottawa) was named Wednesday to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Mideast Region Volleyball Team. It marks the second honor in as many weeks for Morley, who was named last week to the All-Big Ten first team.
Morley, who was a 2002 preseason All-Big Ten selection, set MSU's all-time total blocks and block assists records this season. She currently has 636 total blocks and 551 block assists - totals which both rank fourth in Big Ten history.
This season, Morley ranks third in the Big Ten and 29th nationally in blocks, averaging 1.34 per game. She has twice hit the 12-block plateau in matches this season (9/14 vs. South Florida; 10/4 vs. Ohio State), which is tied for the fourth best performance in a single match in MSU history.
Morley has also excelled offensively, ranking ninth in hitting percentage (.339) in the Big Ten. She is second in MSU history with a .314 career attack percentage (954 kills, 320 errors, 2,017 attempts).
Morley and the Spartans will take on No. 1 USC Thursday at 8 p.m. EST in the West Regional semifinals.
