Steplyk Receives Provost's Award From MSU

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Freshman Diana Steplyk received the Provost's Award as Michigan State University's Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) held its fifth-annual Spartan Academic Excellence Gala Sunday, April 21.
The Provost's Award, which is given annually to the Freshman Student-Athlete of the Year, was handed out to Steplyk, Chris Hill (men's basketball) and Kevin Estrada (ice hockey). In addition, MSU volleyball players Michelle Kopka and Brooke Langston were also finalists for the award.
Steplyk, a defensive specialist, played in 17 matches for the Spartans last fall and played in every game during the final 13 matches. Steplyk had a career-high 14 digs vs. Illinois, Nov. 23, 2001, and followed up with 11 digs vs. Indiana the next night. She finished the season with 93 digs and 10 service aces.
