Six MSU Volleyball Student-Athletes Named Academic All-Big Ten

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Fifty-seven Michigan State student-athletes in seven sports, including seven volleyeball student-athletes, were named Academic All-Big Ten for the fall athletic season, as announced by the Big Ten office Friday.
2007 Michigan State Volleyball Fall Academic All-Big Ten Honorees (years listed are academic, not athletic) Jessica Hohl, Sr., Retail, Waterville, Ohio Heather McDaniel, Jr., Kinesiology, Madison Heights, Mich. Lisa Naymick, So., Undecided, North Muskegon, Mich. Mischelle Nelson, So., Comparative Cultures & Politics, Naperville, Ill. Ashley Schatzle, Sr., Nursing, Monroe, Mich. Miken Trogdon, Sr., Spanish, Lisle, Ill.
The men's cross country team had three honorees, the women's cross country and field hockey teams each had eight, the football team had eight, the men's soccer team had five honorees and the MSU women's soccer team had a team-record 19 players honored.
The conference also recognized 15 students with perfect 4.0 grade point averages, including women's soccer sophomore Megan Brown and women's cross country junior Alissa McKaig.
In all, the Big Ten recognized 661 student-athletes for their success in the classroom. To be nominated for Academic All-Big Ten consideration, a student-athletes must earn a varsity letter, be in at least their second academic year at a Big Ten institution and carry at least a 3.0 GPA.
