BOSTON, Mass. - Michigan State volleyball (5-3) wiped out two opponents in day one of the Harvard Invitational Friday at Lavietes Pavilion. The Spartans defeated Wofford and Boston College in clean 3-0 sweeps. Additionally, head coach Cathy George picked up her 400 and 401st career wins and is now 401-257 all time; George entered her third season with the Spartans with a 396-254 record, accumulated in more than 20 years worth of coaching at North Dakota State, Texas-Arlington, Western Michigan and MSU.
"It was really special. Every one of our players got into the match, and that is what made it memorable," said George. "For Allyson Karaba to get her first career dig and Lisa Naymick and Megan Schatzle to get their first kills , it was great. A lot of players had their first match for MSU so winning as a team was special."
