Kyndra Abron Earns AVCA Mideast Honorable Mention Honors

EAST LANSING, Mich. - As announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) today, Dec. 9, Michigan State volleyball sophomore Kyndra Abron (Livonia, Mich.) has been named as an All-Mideast Region honorable mention. The Spartan becomes the first in team history to receive such an honor.
Abron, who lead the Spartans to their third NCAA Tournament appearance in four years, tallied a career-high 267 kills during the 2009 campaign. 107 of those kills occurred against top-25 ranked opponents, which ranked first among the team this season.
On the season, Abron led the Spartan attack in conference action with her 2.81 kills-per-set average. She also was tops on the team in solo blocks, tallying 10 overall and eight during Big Ten play. The sophomore ranked third this season in both kills-per-set and blocks-per-set, tallying 2.57 and 0.68, respectively.
Abron and the rest of the Spartans saw the 2009 campaign come to an end in a 3-0 loss to No. 13 Kentucky in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Dec. 4, in Lexington, Ky.
