Jenilee Rathje Named to Academic All-District Team

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State volleyball senior Jenilee Rathje has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District V First Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) today (Nov. 10). Rathje is now eligible to be named an Academic All-American with the recognition.
Rathje looks to become the first since 1996, and third different Spartan all-time, to be recognized with Academic All-America honors. Former Spartans Dana Cooke (1995-96) and Val Sterk (1996) are the other two recipients for MSU.
Rathje, who was a 2010 CoSIDA Academic All-District third-team recipient, becomes the first Spartan to receive first-team honors since 2003, when Michelle Kopka was recognized.
The Mount Pleasant, Mich., native currently boasts a 3.84 GPA in kinesiology.
The MSU co-captain has been a pivotal part in the team's success this season, leading the team in kills with 410 kills, while also ranking second on the team in digs with 199. Rathje currently ranks amongst the all-time leaders at MSU in total matches played (135 - fourth), total sets played (468 - second) and kills (1410 - ninth).
