Volleyball Signs Three to National Letters of Intent

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State volleyball head coach Cathy George announced Monday that three individuals have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Michigan State next fall and play for the 2012 Spartan volleyball team. The signees Maggie Halloran (OH/MB, 6-3, Ann Arbor, Mich., Ann Arbor Skyline), Hadley Orr (OH/DS, 6-0, Forest, Ind., Clinton Central) and Halle Peterson (S, 5-10, Rockford, Mich., Rockford).

Cathy George on Halloran: "Maggie Halloran is a versatile player, who we can see playing any front row position. She puts a very massive block at the net. She is a great teammate and will do whatever it takes for the team. Maggie is just a real solid volleyball player with a high volleyball IQ."

Four-year letterwinner for head coach Jessica Barrentine at Clinton Central high school ... Earned first-team all-state in 2010 ... Member of the 2010 Indiana High School Volleyball Dream Team ... Earned All-Hoosier Heartland Conference honors in 2009 and 2010 ... Listed on the All-Country teams in both 2009 and 2010 ... Earned second-team all-state recognition in 2009 ... Named captain of her volleyball team in 2010 ... High school earned sectional championship in 2008 and 2010 ... Played for Circle City volleyball club the past five seasons ... Placed third at the 2009 Junior Olympics ... Also lettered in both basketball and track & field ... Member of the National Honor Society, ranking third in her class ... President of the science academic team.
Cathy George on Orr: "Hadley Orr is an extremely, explosive athlete. She is very quick off the floor and has a real competitive spirit. Hadley brings with her a very fiery personality. She is what we like to call a quick-twitch athlete and will use her speed to compliment our team."

Played club volleyball at Dead Frog/Far Our Volleyball Club ... Team placed 11th at nationals in 2011 ... Won the state open championships in 2008 with the North East Attack Volleyball Club ... Cathy George on Peterson: "Halle Peterson is such a solid setter. Her ball control, finesse, solid play and volleyball IQ are all extremely high. She reminds us a lot of Kristen Kelsay. I think both her and Kristen complement each other very well. I really enjoyed the attitude, the chemistry and work ethic that Halle brings to the court. She is a great teammate, who people love to play with, and has the assertive type of leadership every team desires. Halle is a type of player that everyone will want to follow."
